The document, signed by <a href=\"https:\/\/by-tv.co.uk\/en\/?s=united+kingdom\"><strong>UK<\/strong><\/a> <strong>Defence Secretary John Healey and Turkish National Defence Minister Ya\u015far G\u00fcler,<\/strong> is seen as a significant step toward strengthening NATO cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The German government has also approved the sale of 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets to T\u00fcrkiye. Valued at approximately \u20ac4.75 billion, the deal is expected to play a critical role in modernizing the Turkish Air Force.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_32332\" style=\"width: 2058px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32332\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32332\" src=\"https:\/\/by-tv.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/522814021_1093036256350416_5936521139111134155_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" title=\"\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-32332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">UK Defence Secretary John Healey and Turkish National Defence Minister Ya\u015far G\u00fcler<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Speaking to BYTV, <strong>Professor Justin Bronk<\/strong>, Senior Research Fellow for Airpower and Technology at the <strong>Royal United Services Institute (RUSI)<\/strong>, said the Eurofighter move would keep the Turkish Air Force competitive until at least 2035.<\/p><div id=\"briti-1903737594\" class=\"briti-icerik\" style=\"margin-top: 5px;margin-bottom: 5px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/piaryum.com\/services\/\" aria-label=\"piaryum banner\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/by-tv.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Gemini_Generated_Image_g5yqr1g5yqr1g5yq.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"2064\" height=\"1152\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Political Signal as Well as Military Upgrade<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to Prof. Bronk, the Eurofighter sale carries not only military but also political significance, as it involves sharing sensitive technologies and reflects renewed trust between T\u00fcrkiye and NATO.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cThe Eurofighter Typhoon sale to T\u00fcrkiye is not just a military step; it sends a political message. The Typhoon contains advanced technology, and sharing it demonstrates NATO\u2019s confidence in T\u00fcrkiye. Following Ankara\u2019s expulsion from the F-35 program, the Typhoon offers a way to compensate for the strategic airpower advantage T\u00fcrkiye lost,\u201d<\/strong> Bronk said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Limited Impact on Regional Balance \u2013 But a Strategic Move<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Bronk believes the Eurofighter will not drastically change the regional balance of power in the short term, as it will take time for the Turkish Air Force to integrate the new aircraft and fully train its pilots.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe first few years won\u2019t change the balance, because it takes time for the Turkish Air Force to fully operate these jets. However, this step will prevent T\u00fcrkiye from falling behind regional air forces like those of Greece, Israel, and Russia. Replacing the aging F-4 Phantom fleet and modernizing F-16s will give T\u00fcrkiye strong operational capacity for at least 10\u201315 years,\u201d<\/strong> he noted.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">T\u00fcrkiye is set to finalize a deal for 40+ Eurofighter Typhoon jets this week during IDEF 2025. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wGvvv1GA6g\">pic.twitter.com\/wGvvv1GA6g<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 PAF Falcons (@PAFFalconsPK) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PAFFalconsPK\/status\/1947593562897445022?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 22, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Greek and Israeli Objections Unlikely to Succeed<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Despite unease in Athens and Tel Aviv, Prof. Bronk argues that Greek and Israeli objections will have little impact.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cNeither Greece nor Israel is a core partner in the Eurofighter program, and they do not operate the aircraft. It\u2019s also hard to credibly claim that the Typhoon will dramatically alter regional power balances, so these objections are unlikely to influence the main Eurofighter nations,\u201d<\/strong> he explained.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Compatible with F-16s and TF-X KAAN<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Bronk underlined that the Eurofighter Typhoon will be highly compatible with T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s existing F-16 fleet and the domestically developed TF-X (KAAN) fighter program.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cThe Typhoon, being NATO-standard, will integrate easily with the F-16 fleet through systems like Link 16 and shared munitions such as AIM-120 AMRAAM. For the TF-X, existing partnerships between Turkish Aerospace Industries and UK companies like Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems will facilitate future interoperability,\u201d<\/strong> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Maintenance Role Likely, Manufacturing Role Unlikely<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Bronk believes T\u00fcrkiye could realistically take part in maintenance processes but is unlikely to be included in the production chain.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cT\u00fcrkiye could definitely participate in maintenance and even establish a maintenance hub domestically. However, joining the production chain is unlikely due to cost and timing. The Eurofighter already has a mature and efficient manufacturing network in the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Adding T\u00fcrkiye would increase costs and delay production by at least five years,\u201d<\/strong> he stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<h3><strong>About Professor Justin Bronk<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rusi.org\/people\/bronk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Justin Bronk<\/a> is a Senior Research Fellow at RUSI and Editor of <em>RUSI Defence Systems<\/em>.
